First Step: Basic Dental Studies Submission

As is logical, and before traveling, it is highly recommended that we know your general health status, personal expectations and oral conditions; to determine the indication and feasibility of performing the surgical, restorative or cosmetic desired procedures.

For this, it is essential that you remit us certain personal information and send by email to info@dentalvipcaracas.com some basic dental records that allow us to diagnose, plan your treatment, estimate fees and guarantee the satisfaction of our service.

They Will Only Take 45 or 60 Minutes of Your Time…

Although at first glance the diagnostic records seem numerous and complicated, it is only a mere appearance. In just one (1) hour, or less, they can all be executed.

– Dental Diagnostic Imaging Center –

A good oral diagnostic center in your area will certainly be able to carry out all the relevant dental studies for you. For blood tests (if indicated), you will need to go to a clinical laboratory.

Click on the following link to email you the corresponding orders. If due to the professional legislation of your country, they are not valid, then request a replica of them from a trusted local Dentist or Physician.

Count on with some clinical photographs and dental radiographs will be sufficient in cases of general dentistry, dental aesthetics and conventional prosthetics; while facial tomographies and hematological profiles will be essential for surgical or dental implant treatments.

All studies must be recent, with a maximum validity of three (3) months after their issuance date.

Listed below are the diagnostic resources that we need in the vast majority of cases to start the path to your new smile on the right foot:

– Basic diagnostic records list for international patients –

1- New Patient Form

Brief form that specifies your name, gender, age, country of residence and current medical condition. If this is the case, it must voice the existence of any pathology or state of general order that could condition dental care (allergies, pregnancy, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, ischemic heart disease, osteoporosis and blood coagulation disorders, among many others), as well as the medication prescribed for their control.

Similarly, it is necessary to express in it your immediate oral requirements and the dental treatments or procedures to which you aspire.

2- Extraoral Digital Photographs

Photographic set containing at least 4 extraoral pictures: frontal facial at rest, frontal facial with normal smile, right profile and… very important; a front dento-gingivo-labial image during a exaggerated smile (framing only lips, teeth and gums) showing the teeth and gums in relation to the surrounding lips to assess the degree of maxillary gingival exposure.

– Initial registration of the structure and facial biotype of the person –

– For aesthetic considerations, a dento-gingivo-labial projection is essential when contemplating smile designs or rehabilitations involving the upper anterior segment –

3- Intraoral Digital Photographs

Photographic set containing at least 5 intraoral pictures: anterior or front, right buccal, left buccal, maxillary occlusal and mandibular occlusal.

For image capture, it is essential to remove any oral appliance or removable denture worn by the patient.

– The main objective of intraoral photography is to know precisely the clinical conditions of the patient’s oral cavity –

4- Panoramic Dental X-Ray

To evaluate the maxillary and articular structure altogether, and rule out the presence of fractures, cysts or tumor processes.

– Panoramic radiography is a radiological study that serves to recreate the bony structures of the lower third of the face –

5- Intraoral Periapical Radiographic Study

Detailed projection of each tooth of the mouth to evaluate its structural, pulp and periodontal conditions. A complete periapical study includes between 14 and 18 dental radiographies.

They are not necessary in the case of edentulous patients or with very few teeth in the mouth.

– A periapical study focuses on the teeth and provides detail and precision to the diagnosis of the case –

6- Coagulation Profile (for Surgery and Dental Implants Only)

– CP is a hematoanalytical control that allows us to prevent hemorrhagic complications during surgery –

That includes at least: prothrombin time (PT), partial thromboplastin time (PTT), fibrinogen, platelet count and the International Normalized Ratio (INR) in that patients who follow an AVK anticoagulant treatment.

7- Glycemia, HIV and VDRL Tests (for Surgery and Dental Implants Only)

– High blood sugar and venereal diseases may temporarily contraindicate dental treatment –

To discard diabetes and sexually transmitted diseases.

8- Cone Beam Tomography (for Surgery and Dental Implants Only)

3D Cone Beam volumetric tomography of the jaw to be operated or in which dental implants will be placed (maxilla, mandible or both ones).

This study is indispensable to issue any consideration about an implantation procedure. Panoramic radiography DOES NOT SERVE for this purpose, not even to determine the indication and feasibility of a treatment with dental implants.

– 3D Cone-Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT)

Zygomatic Implant Cases

As they are treatments that require general anesthesia and Maxillofacial Surgery, it is essential to work based on a much broader and more detailed preoperative procedure.

If this is your case, please read the article on How to Get Affordable Zygomatic Implants in Caracas so you can learn about the protocol and the diagnostic studies required.

DENTAL TIP

Reception of Studies and Protocol

Once the files have been received (in word, pdf, jpg, png or DICOM formats), your case will be immediately submitted to an exhaustive multidisciplinary evaluation by our Specialists Team to be able to issue a specific treatment proposal as soon as possible, including of course the quote and its estimated execution time.

– Top cloud storage tools –

IMPORTANT: usually it is not possible to send 3D studies by regular email as they form heavy files that exceed 25 MB. If you need to send a tomography or any other special record you should use tools such as Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox that allow you to first store the files in the cloud and then share a link to them by email.

Definitive Diagnosis

Although we have all the tests and studies listed above, we will not be able to issue a definitive diagnosis of your case until you are clinically evaluated in consultation.

– A good clinical examination is essential before carrying out any dental treatment –

Only through a detailed intra-oral exam can we rule out the presence of pre-cancerous or cancerous lesions, tissue growths, exudates and bleedings, small cavities and dental mobility; as well as determining the properties of your dental enamel, the depth and physical characteristics of your gums and the functioning of your temporomandibular joints.

The studies received via the internet provide more than 90% of the information required to diagnose, plan treatments and prepare budgets; however, they will all be presumptive and always subject to modification or variability by virtue of the physical examination and the results of complementary tests.

Is It Possible to Travel and Get Everything Done in Venezuela, Including Exams and X-Rays?

Of course, quickly and without any inconvenience!

However, it is a protocol that we do not recommend, since there will always be the possibility of detecting some clinical or surgical contraindication (systemic and/or anatomical) that prevents the treatment from being carried out.

If this were to happen, your journey will have been in vain.

For this reason, it is best to have all the preoperative studies and tests carried out in your country of residence, so that before traveling, we can guarantee in advance the indication and viability of the treatment.
